The Age of Anguish reflects upon three Catholic girls residing in the countryside during the awkward time of their adolescence. Enclosed in a rural setting, the girls are confined to a simple life and their personalities become increasingly complex as they mature. Turbulence, insecurity, burning desire, and vivid imagination are persistent themes the girls are battling all the while under the pressure of religious obedience.

These photographs represent the waning moments of our youths as we gradually discover womanhood and reconcile our place in the world.

Over time I realized this series became a refection of my own youth, and I felt compelled to empower the girls at such a crucial stage of their development.
