Dairy Company of London bottle, c. 1901: 11"x14"

$100.00 Sold Out

This glass bottle was made for the Sanitary Dairy Company of London, which operated for only a short time from 1901 to 1902. In this era it was commonplace for milk to be involved in the spread of disease due to poor hygienic conditions involved in its production and storage. Around this time "sanitary dairies" appeared in several communities, marketing their comparatively safe, pasteurized milk in sterilized glass bottles with cardboard caps.
This bottle was excavated in the spring of 2022 from a residential trash pit in the yard of a century home in London, Ontario. It was painstakingly repaired from several pieces in appreciation of its history and rarity.

All of the profits will be donated to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada
